My Happy Marriage

Attention Spoilers!

"If this is a dream... please let me stay in it a little longer."
- Miyo

My review:

ONLY THE FIRST SEASON

Story:
The series tells the tender, quiet development of a connection that initially arises for practical reasons, but slowly transforms into a sincere, emotional relationship. The anime mixes romance with light dramatic elements and everyday problems. The plot isn't necessarily novel, but its loving execution is still touching. It's a quiet story that takes its time – sometimes perhaps a little too much.

Characters:
Miyo Saimori is a gentle and traumatized character, deeply shaped by her past. Her development is slow but relatable as she learns to open up and gain self-confidence.
Kiyoka Kudo, on the other hand, begins as a cold, almost dismissive fiancé, but shows more warmth and caring as the story progresses. Even though he can seem exhausting at times, his development into a sincere partner is clearly evident. Both characters make progress, but there's still room for improvement.

Emotions:
The relationship between Miyo and Kiyoka unfolds slowly and is carried by many quiet, almost tender moments. Humor, insecurities, and misunderstandings provide emotional depth, even though I personally would have sometimes preferred more pace and expression. Nevertheless, the anime creates a warm, uplifting feeling – ideal for fans of slow-paced love stories.

Ending:
The finale remains calm and offers a beautiful, yet rather restrained conclusion. Not everything is completely resolved, but the direction is clear: hope, trust, and the promise of a shared future. No major drama, no loud tones – instead, a quiet, conciliatory ending. The visuals, especially the recurring cherry blossoms, lend the ending a gentle, dreamy touch.

Social Criticism:
The series subtly criticizes societal expectations and traditions, especially regarding arranged marriages and ideas about love and relationships. It questions the question of whether a marriage truly has to be based on love or whether it can also be based on practical and familial ties. Furthermore, it sheds light on the pressure that societal norms can exert on personal relationships.

Conclusion
Don't get me wrong, I think My Special Wedding is truly beautifully designed, super cute, and also exciting. However, I have to say that "My Fiancé" is starting to get on my nerves quite a bit – anyone who's familiar with this anime will know what I mean.
"My Special Wedding" is a lovingly told feel-good anime with potential. While the story moves a bit slowly, and the male lead character isn't always likable, the emotional development is authentic and touching. Anyone who enjoys quiet romances with a beautiful atmosphere and subtle depth will certainly appreciate this anime.
A tender, poetic look at love, trust, and the slow opening of two wounded hearts.
